Dating back several centuries, Château le Verdoyer is steeped in history. We invite you to join Richard on a tour to discover the secrets of our château.

A history spanning seven centuries, in the heart of the Périgord Vert

Château le Verdoyer dates back to the 13th century, although it has evolved over the years. Its main tower dates from the end of the 19th century. Nestled in the Dordogne, in the heart of the Périgord Vert, the château stood for centuries before becoming a 4-star campsite in 1987 under the care of the Ausems family—who have breathed new life into it while preserving its soul.

The round tower, stained glass, and secret passages

The oldest part is the round tower located on the right side of the château when facing the pond. Its door, among other features, is original.

Inside, admire the beautiful stained glass window in the restaurant. And if curiosity takes hold, you can then visit the church and the Château de Chalus, where Richard the Lionheart died. There, you will find other stained glass windows created by the same artist.

During the tour of our château, you will also have the opportunity to discover the interior of the round tower with its beehive installed in a loophole, stories of the secret passages used to escape the castle, or the top of our crenellated tower which offers a superb view of the surrounding countryside.
