An Eco-Responsible Campsite
Our name, “Vert-doyer” (Green-doyer), is no coincidence! Thanks to its location within the Périgord Limousin Regional Nature Park, in the Périgord Vert, Château le Verdoyer has chosen to invest not only in environmental protection but also in highlighting its natural surroundings. We are proud to have been awarded the Biorismo label since 2015, a recognition that reflects our ongoing commitment to sustainable and responsible tourism.
Our Concrete Actions for the Planet
As part of our approach, we are committed to upholding a number of environmental pledges:
🌞 Solar Energy: Our 200m² of rooftop solar panels capture the energy of the Périgord sun, contributing to our energy production.
⚡ Green Mobility: An electric vehicle charging station is available for your use, facilitating your eco-friendly travel.
💧 Water Management: Water-saving devices and shower timers (“Timers”) allow us to preserve this precious resource.
♻️ Waste and Maintenance: We practice selective sorting, use recyclable bags, and our housekeeping team exclusively uses organic cleaning products.
💡 Responsible Lighting: We favour LED lights, solar lighting, and recently, a connected bulb system to reduce our energy consumption.
Our Estate: A Sanctuary for Biodiversity
Across our 23 hectares of preserved nature, we have created a true sanctuary for local fauna and flora. Beyond daily ecological actions, we actively work to enhance our natural setting and raise awareness among the youngest visitors about respecting the environment:
🦋 Biodiversity Squares: Our maintenance teams preserve grassy areas throughout an entire growing season without human intervention (no mowing, no fertiliser, no pesticides). These zones allow flora to develop naturally and animal species to settle, thereby creating genuine small ecosystems—a paradise for wild flowers and butterflies.
🌺 The Wild Orchid Trail: A wild orchid discovery trail runs through the campsite, allowing you to observe these remarkable species during the right season (April & May).
🐝 Wildlife Sanctuaries: Bird feeders, bat boxes, and insect hotels have been installed to promote local biodiversity.
🌳 Nature Discovery: Information panels help you identify the various species of trees and plants present on the grounds.
Awareness and Sharing
Our commitment doesn’t stop there! In collaboration with the Regional Nature Park and the Lenny Club, we regularly organise educational activities to raise awareness among all ages about environmental protection. Identification panels allow you to discover the richness of our local flora during your walks.
