Miallet - Day of the Bison

Every year, during the last weekend of July, the Périgord Vert changes into the Wild West of America, when the "Fête des Bisons" starts in Mialet. A big meeting of old cars and motorbikes during a weekend rythmed by Country music.

For the 8th year, on July the 28th, the Fête des Bisons will be celebrated in Mialet.
On the lands of the ‘Bisons du Périgord’ gather old cars and motorcycles to celebrate a very festive weekend around the theme Wild West.
The program includes a meal with Bison on the spit, archery and guided tours to the bison held with a wagon.
All this happened on the rhythm of country music, played by a folklore group.

Certainly, the bison is not a typical animal of the Périgord. Nevertheless, the cave paintings confirm that several thousands of years ago, ancestors of the bison roamed through the landscape of the Périgord.

Passionated about the animal, David Soulie has decided ten years ago to reintroduce the mighty mammal in its original environment.
Since he has made available a 40 acre country estate, there are thirty bison’s roaming over it.

Besides the last weekend of July, when you can discover the bison in a festive atmosphere, you can visit the farm throughout the whole year.

Every Wednesday in July and August there will be a visit, followed by a tasting.
