Thiviers & the Foie Gras museum

Museum of the Foie Gras
The Perigord is a land of good food. And among all the flavours associated to this region, Foie Gras is surely the most popular and the most famous. To prevent any secret or wrong idea about this delicious product the town of, Thiviers, just a few kilometers away from Kawan Village Château le Verdoyer, created a museum devoted to foie gras, its history, its production, etc..
The fact that the museum had been created in Thiviers is no hazard. The Thiviers area has a strong agricultural history and the inhabitants like to say that Thiviers is the capital of foie gras in the Perigord Vert. Every Saturday morning from mid-November to mid-March, a large regional market (with foie gras) takes place in the small town.

A play area dedicated to the children on the goose and duck theme offers the opportunity to the parents to visit the museum.
The visit ends in a reserved room for local producers, where you can buy foie gras and other regional specialties. Regularly, tastings take place there and it is planned to organize cooking classes, based on foie gras of course.

The time to visit the museum can be half an hour or two hours depending on the attention that you pay to different parts of the process.
The museum is open:
